| The view out my hotel window last night. I feel like I'm on vacation! |
I'm ALMOST there! My plane from Amsterdam to Nairobi was huge, like first class was on the 2nd floor huge. I navigated the Nairobi airport without any trouble, miraculously. First stamp in my passport, check! My bag was maybe the last one of the plane, which got a little worrisome, but it eventually showed up. My driver was right there and fabulous, and my hotel is so cute!
My 2012 New Year celebration is one to remember. (From what I saw on Facebook, the hoosiers added another reason to celebrate! I'm already so out of touch, haha.) I nice Turkish businessman wanted to practice his English, so we chatted and he shared his Tusker with me, which is Kenya beer. Not bad! Then he offered me a foot-rub, and I decided it was time for bed instead. Haha.
My body is very confused as to what time it is. I got a good amount of sleep last night, but I'm not feeling 100%. Hopefully a nice shower will help! I fly out for Eldoret this evening, and apparently I'm supposed to be out of this room in the next 5 minutes...so it looks like an afternoon reading my Kindle in the hotel lobby is in order. Ciao! (I'm so international, haha)

Sweet! What a cute hotel room. Glad everything is going as planned. Wish you could have seen the Hoosiers beat #2 Ohio State. Thought of you and wished you were here to celebrate with us. Guess you have something just a little bigger going on right now. Miss you. So happy it has been smooth sailing so far. Enjoy! Take it all in. Am loving the photos and blog (hope it can continue). HAPPY NEW YEAR! This will be one to remember! It's corned beef and cabbage day! Your favorite. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou're almost there!! Well, by now you better be there!!! Hopefully you made it safely and are loving life in rural Africa.
ReplyDeleteNo lie, it's quiet here- I want to update you on things (NYE, the IU-OSU game, etc), but those things, mostly NYE, are topics for an email or a skype date. Maybe I'll do that tonight... hmmm...
Either way have a GREAT time, good luck as you start work, and only 58 days til you get back!!
PS- i bet you'll be begging for that foot rub by the time you're done there!!
